Receive the blessings of Guru Padmasambhava from one of the most sacred places connected with his enlightened activity.

On October 4, 2026, Shar Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö Rinpoche will bestow a precious Guru Rinpoche Empowerment live from Pharping, Nepal. Depending on the final pilgrimage arrangements, Rinpoche will offer the empowerment from either the sacred Asura Cave or Yangleshö Cave. These caves are widely regarded as the most profound sacred places associated with Guru Rinpoche outside Tibet. Receiving an empowerment while the Vajra Master is present at one of Guru Rinpoche’s own places of realization creates an extraordinary opportunity to connect with the blessings of the Lotus-Born Guru and his enlightened activity.

Why Pharping Is So Sacred

As followers of Buddha Shakyamuni make pilgrimage to Bodh Gaya, followers of Guru Padmasambhava make pilgrimage to the caves of Asura and Yangleshö. At Yangleshö, Guru Rinpoche practiced Yangdak Heruka, the wrathful manifestation of enlightened wisdom mind. At the upper Asura Cave, he united this practice with Vajrakilaya, the powerful enlightened activity that removes obstacles to awakening. Through these practices, Guru Rinpoche overcame obstructing forces and attained the ultimate siddhi of Mahamudra, the Great Seal. For his extraordinary realization and scholarly activity, he is praised in the Barché Lamsel as the Pandita of Yangleshö and invoked as Guru Mawé Sengé, the Lion of Speech, inseparable from Manjushri, the embodiment of the wisdom of all the Buddhas. This is why Pharping remains one of the most powerful places in the Vajrayana world for meditation, prayer, empowerment, and the removal of obstacles.

Khentrul Rinpoche’s Connection to the Nyingma Tradition

Although Shar Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö Rinpoche is renowned as a master of the Jonang Kalachakra lineage, his Dharma journey began within the Nyingma tradition.

As a child growing up on the Tibetan plateau, Rinpoche heard his Thangka Painter Yogi Tantrika father, a devoted Nyingma practitioner, reciting the mantras of Guru Rinpoche, Marichi, and other enlightened deities while herding yaks. These sacred sounds were among Rinpoche’s earliest experiences of the Dharma. Rinpoche began his formal Buddhist education in Nyingma monasteries and has studied extensively with traditions connected to the Palyul, Dzogchen, and Kathok lineages. While preserving the complete Jonang Kalachakra lineage, he embodies the authentic Rimé spirit of honoring and preserving all genuine Buddhist traditions.

Why Receive a Guru Rinpoche Empowerment?

Guru Padmasambhava, known as Guru Rinpoche, the Precious Master, is revered as the great Vajra Master who established Vajrayana Buddhism in Tibet. Receiving this empowerment creates a profound karmic connection with Guru Rinpoche’s enlightened body, speech, and mind. His practice is especially associated with:

-removing inner and outer obstacles
-overcoming obstructing forces
-increasing wisdom and compassionate activity
-transforming adversity into the path
-protecting the Dharma and its practitioners
-strengthening the causes for realization

Whether you have relied upon Guru Rinpoche throughout your life or are establishing this connection for the first time, this is a rare opportunity to receive his blessings from one of his own sacred places of accomplishment.

Guru Rinpoche and the Golden Age of Shambhala

Students often ask about the connection between Guru Rinpoche and the Kalachakra teachings of Shambhala

Historically, Guru Rinpoche is not part of the principal human transmission lineage of the Kalachakra Tantra. From the Vajrayana perspective, however, all enlightened masters arise from the indivisible awakened wisdom of Vajradhara, manifesting in different forms according to the needs of beings. There is also profound respect within the Nyingma tradition for the future Golden Age of Shambhala. Some Nyingma prayers and treasure traditions describe Guru Rinpoche’s future enlightened activity in connection with Raudra Chakrin, the final Kalki King of Shambhala. In some traditions, Guru Rinpoche is said to manifest as Raudra Chakrin; in others, he returns with or supports him in guiding beings toward the Golden Age.

These traditions express a shared aspiration: that enlightened activity will continue until wisdom overcomes ignorance, compassion overcomes conflict, and the Dharma flourishes throughout the world.

For Khentrul Rinpoche, whose life’s work is dedicated to preserving the complete Kalachakra teachings and creating the causes for the Golden Age, it is especially meaningful to bestow this Guru Rinpoche Empowerment from one of the Mahaguru’s own places of realization.
