Global Mantra Accumulations

Dedicate Your Practice Together to Generate Oceans of Merit
“Everything visible in existence starts from the invisible. Humans can make the invisible, visible through the power of mantra and prayer. This is the best way because the mind is intangible and invisible but has the power of faith and belief; then sound is tangible but still invisible. When recited as mantras this can create visible beneficial results.”
Khentrul Rinpoche

Benefits of Mantra Recitation

Mantras originally from the divine language of Maitreya, sanskrit, and based in the Buddha-Dharma are powerful divine sounds connected to Deities that pocess the power to transform and protect our mind. The mantras when repeated can purify our minds from our lifetimes of negative karma and prevent us from forming new negative karmas. When done with strong faith and devotion the results can be extremely powerful. There are stories of diseases, calamities and disasters having been averted from the power of mantra.  Each mantra is connected to the omniscient mind of wisdom and compassion. Reciting a Deity’s mantra is to connect with the divine speech of the deity. Whenever we hear the deity’s mantra in the world, we can feel and know the presense of the deity is with us. The more we say the mantra, the more we can connect and realize our true nature. As we spent time with the speech of the deity who is our own nature, the closer we get to it. When Kalachakra Pada was seeking Kalki Aja for the Kalachakra Tantra he relied on his yidam Manjushri for assistance. When we do this with pure aspiration and strong faith then we are relying on the power that goes beyond our limited human condition. We are instead relying on the infinite power of Buddha-Nature.

The Importance of Quality Over Quantity

There are several ways in which you can approach accumulating mantras, The best method of course is to practice with diligence, concentration and strong faith and aspirations. This is the highest quality practice. If you are not able to do that, but you still have strong faith in the mantras then it is best to accumulate as many as you can even if you are not able to maintain perfect concentration. The third best way to accumulate mantras is for those who have some belief then you can focus on your quantity and effort.

The Power of Dedicating Your Mantras

It is very important to dedicate your merit as soon as you create any all of the time because the causes of death are uncertain and we could die at any time. By offering your practice for the benefit of yourself and all sentient beings you are adding your single drop of water into the ocean of aspirations. The power of a drop of water may vanish but the power of the ocean is unstoppable. Even once you have dedicated your practice, you can still offer your mantras to be dedicated as a community for the benefit of sentient beings. Rinpoche will from time to time dedicate all of our accumulated mantras to various causes.

Counting and Submitting Your Mantra

For each mala of 108 that you complete, count 100 mantras. There are 8 extra beads in a mala for many reasons. One way in which we use them is to accommodate for our human error in practicing. Upon completion of your practice, please submit your total accumulation of mantras.
