Khentrul Rinpoche has specifically requested that we offer this training again for the benefit of both new and existing students. This is because guru devotion is not a beginner topic that can be understood once and set aside. It is something that must be revisited, deepened, and clarified again and again. In Vajrayana Buddhism, everything depends on understanding the Guru correctly. Without this foundation, even sincere practitioners can remain uncertain or blocked in their progress. This course is being offered to establish a clear, stable, and authentic understanding of guru devotion—the root of all attainments—within the context of the Jonang Kalachakra tradition.
The Heart of Vajrayana Let us go directly to the truth of Vajrayana practice: The Heart of Devotion—the Guru is the Path.
This is not simply about finding a faster way to enlightenment. It is about understanding the core of Vajrayana itself. Without guru devotion, tantra does not function. With it, realization becomes possible. A highly respected scholar from Larung Monastery, deeply regarded by Khentrul Rinpoche, explains:
“Unconditional love is the highest form of desire. Ultimate Bodhicitta is Buddha-nature, the Guru. As we increase this Love and Bodhicitta, our awareness increases. Devotion to this cause is devotion to the ultimate Guru, the ultimate love. Devotion is simply keeping the view.”
This points to something essential. Devotion is not blind belief. It is the stability of the view—remaining connected to awakened awareness itself.
Guru Devotion as a Complete Path Guru devotion is often misunderstood as a single idea or emotional attitude. In reality, it is a spectrum of practice that unfolds across the entire Vajrayana path.
At the beginning, it may arise as respect, inspiration, or a cautious openness to learning. At this stage, it is essential to examine carefully, develop discernment, and establish a grounded and healthy relationship with the teachings and the teacher.
As practice deepens, devotion becomes more integrated. It begins to shape how we practice, how we see the path, and how we relate to our own mind. It becomes an active method for transforming perception—not just something we think about, but something we rely on.
At the highest levels—within Highest Yoga Tantra and especially the completion stage practices—guru devotion is no longer separate from meditation. It becomes inseparable from the direct recognition of mind’s nature. The Guru is understood as the very display of awakened awareness, and devotion becomes the continuity of that recognition. The classical text The Fifty Verses of Guru Devotion, attributed to the great Indian master Ashvaghosha, presents working with a Guru in a precise and structured way. This training is designed to help students understand the full breadth of guru devotion—from its careful beginnings to its deepest realization—within the living context of the Jonang Kalachakra tradition.
How the Course Will Unfold This is an 8-week course, meeting once per week, designed to build understanding and experience progressively.
Each session will include:
-Guided study of The Fifty Verses of Guru Devotion (Ashvaghosha) -Explanation and practice of the 7 Limb Prayer -Instruction and practice of the Jonang Kalachakra Guru Puja -Practical integration of devotion into daily life and meditation
The structure is cumulative, allowing each week to deepen and expand upon the previous one.
Course Format:
-Weekly live sessions over 8 weeks -All teachings are recorded and made available in the Dzokden Learning Center -Recordings allow for ongoing review and deeper contemplation
Private Live Q&A:
-Each session concludes with 15 minutes of questions not included in the recording. This creates space for open, personal, and candid discussion. Guardian of the North • Lord of Wealth • Magnetizing Protector
Receive the empowerment and oral transmission of the sādhana of Red Vaiśravaṇa, in his dynamic form riding the blue steed and wielding the red spear—a powerful protector who removes obstacles, magnetizes prosperity, and establishes favorable conditions for both worldly success and Dharma practice. For those who are Drolmi Kazug practitioners, this is one of the key protectors invoked within that practice, making this empowerment especially meaningful for deepening your connection to the lineage and its magnetizing activity.
This empowerment is being offered in an extraordinarily rare astrological alignment—the Year, Month, Day, and Hour of the Horse, aligned in the Fire Horse year to help magnetize and catalyze the activity on the day for Dharma Protector activities. Such a convergence occurs only once in a 60-year zodiac cycle, greatly amplifying the power of the empowerment for magnetizing success, protection, and accomplishment.
This offering is also dedicated to the unfolding of the Golden Age, and specifically to the success of the 2027 Global Art Tour, celebrating 1000 years of the Kālacakra Tantra in Tibetan Buddhism and the changing of the Kalki King in Shambhala—a pivotal moment in the vision of a harmonious world and enlightenment for all beings.
The Power of Red Vaisravana
This form of Vaiśravaṇa is not merely a wealth deity, but a protector who actively engages with the forces that shape our karmic conditions.
Through this practice:
-obstacles and adverse conditions are pacified -supportive circumstances arise in alignment with your intentions -the four enlightened activities—pacifying, enriching, magnetizing, and subjugating—are accomplished without obstruction
He works in connection with the eight classes of beings—yakshas, nagas, and other unseen forces—transforming them into allies on the path, harmonizing environmental and karmic influences that affect wealth, health, and success.
A Practice of Offering, Alignment, and Magnetizing Activity
This sādhana emphasizes generosity and offering as the foundation of prosperity. Through offerings such as golden drink, torma, and ritual substances, practitioners establish a relationship with protective forces and create the causes for abundance to arise.
Rather than chasing results externally, this practice works at the root— transforming the unseen conditions that determine outcomes.
Who This Practice Is For
This empowerment is especially beneficial for those who:
-face obstacles in wealth, livelihood, or success -seek to magnetize opportunities, influence, and recognition -want to create stable conditions to practice Dharma without hindrance -wish to work skillfully with karma, environment, and unseen forces

Kalachakra New Year & Wheel Turning Day: 24-Hour Global Prayer Celebration
Join us for a rare and powerful 24-hour continuous practice honoring the Kalachakra New Year—Kalachakra Wheel Turning Day, one of the most sacred and auspicious times in the Kalachakra tradition. This holy day commemorates the anniversary when Buddha Shakyamuni manifested as Kalachakra and taught the Kalachakra Tantra to the Bodhisattva King Suchandra, setting in motion the lineage that would flourish in Shambhala for the benefit of all beings.
A Day of 100 Million Times Merit
Celebrated during Ngakpa Dawa, this is an extraordinarily powerful karmic window. It is taught that all virtuous actions performed on this day are multiplied 100 million times.
For this reason, in the great Jonang monasteries, monks traditionally engage in two weeks of intensive Kalachakra practice, performing generation stage sadhanas and elaborate Kalachakra pujas to accumulate vast merit and wisdom. We invite you to join in this same spirit of deep practice and collective aspiration.
Special Session with Khentrul Rinpoche
Khentrul Rinpoche will join us live for a special one-hour session of prayers and teachings, offering blessings and guidance on this most auspicious occasion.
Immediately following Khentrul Rinpoche’s session, we will gather with for a special one-hour tribute session honoring His Holiness Jigme Dorje Rinpoche, who recently entered Parinirvana. This session will include prayers, devotional songs, recitation of his name mantra, and video reflections along with storiees celebrating his life and enlightened activity. In this way, we unite remembrance, devotion, and merit-making within the flow of this sacred day.

The Golden Age of peace, abundance, and spiritual realization does not manifest through wishes alone—it arises through the power of our aspirations, merit, and enlightened activity.
Yellow Dzambhala, the supreme wealth deity, embodies the enlightened activity of abundance and support—helping to remove obstacles, increase prosperity, and create the conditions needed for both Dharma practice and the flourishing of awakened society.
We warmly invite you to participate in this Yellow Dzambhala Puja to help create the outer, inner, and secret causes for the flourishing of Dzokden Dharma and Khentrul Rinpoche’s global vision for a harmonious world rooted in Shambhala values.
This practice supports the material and spiritual wealth needed to actualize the Dzokden Kalachakra projects—temples, retreat centers, Dharma communities, and the conditions for lasting peace and awakening.
While worldly effort is necessary, Rinpoche continually emphasizes the importance of pujas and merit generation to magnetize the right resources and remove obstacles. Together, we will make offerings to Dzambhala to support the health, wealth, and success of all practitioners dedicated to the Dharma path. This practice is also dedicated to the sponsors of the Golden Age Shrine at Dzokden Tashi Gadu in Sacramento.
Important Note About Participation
This is a restricted practice, open only to those who have received the Yellow Dzambhala empowerment from Khentrul Rinpoche and/or any other qualified vajra master.
Khentrul Rinpoche has been in the process of bestowing all Five Dzambhalas, and later in 2027 he will bestow the Red Dzambhala empowerment. If you wish to participate fully in these practices going forward, please look out for that empowerment as well—so that when Rinpoche bestows the complete sadhana cycle of all Five Dzambhalas, you will be able to practice with us.

The Commentary has been pre-recorded by Khentrul Rinpoche *Restricted teaching, please see info below*
Important note: If you are already enrolled in the Secret Dakini Commentary in the Dzokden Learning Center, you will gain automatic access to oral transmissions. The information has been added to your course.
Khentrul Rinpoche will bestow the oral transmission to the Secret Dakini Nogndro. This incredibly poetic practice text presents all the path until Enlightenment concisely. It focuses on the ultimate meaning of the different preliminary practices. Some sections that are extensive in the other Kalachakra Sadhanas are presented here very concisely, whereas others appear in a more comprehensive, non-traditional way.
The “Secret Dakini Treasure” is especially recommended for those practicing wensum (Three Isolations) and the First Vajra Yoga. For this reason, Rinpoche wishes that practitioners planning to attend the longer wensum or 1st Yoga retreat attend this transmission beforehand.
Who can attend? 1) All who have received the Four Higher Empowerments with Rinpoche or, if not: 2) Any stable Dharma practitioner who has done the Ngöndro extensively in any tradition and has the aspiration to receive Higher Empowerment.
In both cases, they should know quite well the Kalachakra sadhanas “The Divine Ladder” and “Enlightening the Heart”. To get to know Rinpoche’s flexible approach to the Ngöndro, look at the chapter 14 of “Unveiling Your Sacred Truth — Book 2”. For online resources, visit:https://dzokden.org/getting-started
If you do not have the requirements yet, Rinpoche encourages you to prepare yourself as much as you can during the year in order to be able to attend.
