Description

We are seeking a dedicated volunteer with experience as a Public Relations professional to enhance our media presence and promote the compassionate teachings of Khentrul Rinpoche and global work of the Dzokden Foundation. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your professional public relations acumen to support the spread of compassion, wisdom and the mission of the new Golden Age on a global scale.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement proactive media relations strategies to increase visibility for Dzokden and Rinpoche’s mission across various media platforms (print, online, broadcast).
Identify and cultivate relationships with key media contacts relevant to spirituality, religion, philanthropy, international development, and related fields.
Craft compelling press releases, media advisories, backgrounders, talking points, and other media materials that accurately and effectively communicate key messages.
Proactively pitch stories and opportunities to media outlets and consistently follow up to secure coverage.
Track media coverage and analyze its effectiveness, providing reports and recommendations for future strategies.
Assist with public relations efforts for events, teachings, and initiatives including pre-event promotion and on-site media management.
Advise on and contribute to Dzokden’s online presence from a public relations perspective, ensuring consistent messaging across platforms.
Provide guidance and support in developing and executing communication strategies to address any potential crises or sensitive issues, as needed.
Work closely with other Dzokden leaders, staff members, program managers, and volunteers to ensure cohesive messaging and coordinated efforts.

Proven professional experience in public relations, with a strong track record of successful media placements.
Established relationships with media contacts across relevant sectors; strong understanding of media landscape and trends; familiarity with international media outreach.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling and nuanced messages for diverse audiences.
Experience with digital PR and social media strategies.
Strategic thinking and the ability to develop and implement effective PR strategies.
Discretion and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Experience working with non-profit organizations or religious/spiritual groups is a plus; understanding of cultural sensitivities involved in representing a spiritual leader and a global foundation.
Good organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; diligence; able to work through obstacles and challenges.
Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with the review team, staff members and/or volunteers to fully support the organization.
Flexibility and patience to adapt to changing requirements.
Technical: Ability to use Google Workspace, Drive, Docs (text editing/formatting functions) and Slack.
Able to transfer knowledge to future volunteers.
