2027 Global Shambhala Tour

Sharing Art and Teachings of Kalachakra Tantra to Create the Golden Age

Inspiring Hearts and Minds Globally

The Golden Age Shambhala Art & Empowerment Tour is a global initiative designed to bring the living experience of the Kalachakra tradition into direct encounter with the modern world. Spanning Southeast Asia, Europe, North America, and India, this unprecedented tour will travel across more than a dozen countries, presenting a carefully curated collection of sacred art, immersive experiences, and educational programs. Launching in after Losar in 2027 and culminating in Bodh Gaya, India in 2028, the tour marks a rare historical convergence: 1,000 years since the Kalachakra Tantra was first translated into Tibetan by the great master Drö Lotsāwa in 1027, and the transition of the Kalki King of Shambhala in 2027. At the heart of this initiative is the intention to make the sights, sounds, and inner meaning of Kalachakra accessible to a global audience—regardless of background, culture, or belief.

The Tour Will Feature

  • A Landmark Sacred Art Exhibition
Over 80 thangkas of the Shambhala Kalki Kings and Queens, Kalachakra and Shambhala have been commissioned under the direction of Shar Khentrul Rinpoche—restoring a largely unseen dimension of the lineage and presenting a vision of an enlightened leadership and the world for the modern age.
  • Immersive Kalachakra Experiences
Including large-scale 3D mandalas, virtual and augmented reality environments, and interactive installations that allow participants to engage the symbolic universe of Kalachakra directly and experientially.
  • Music, Sound, and Ritual Performance
Concerts and sacred sound experiences that bring the vibrational dimension of the tradition into contemporary expression, bridging ancient ritual forms with modern artistic language.
  • Teachings, Empowerments, and Global Dialogue
Offered by Khentrul Rinpoche, creating opportunities for direct transmission, learning, and cross-cultural exchange in museums, universities, and public forums.
  • A Museum-Quality Art Book
A large-format, finely crafted volume presenting the full collection of sacred artworks alongside scholarly and contemplative essays—designed as a lasting cultural artifact preserving the depth and beauty of the Shambhala tradition.
  • A Documentary Film
A cinematic journey explaining the Golden Age Shambhala and the importance of this work for our world. This film will serve as both a record and a means of extending the reach of the tour to global audiences.

Why This Matters for the World

We are living at a time of profound transition. Despite unprecedented access to information and technology, many people experience increasing disconnection, uncertainty, and fragmentation. The Kalachakra tradition offers a different vision. It teaches that outer peace arises from inner transformation, and that a harmonious society is built upon individuals who cultivate clarity, compassion, and responsibility. The Shambhala teachings, embodied by the Kalki Kings, present a model of leadership rooted in wisdom and service.

The year 2027 marks a powerful symbolic turning point:

  • 1,000 years of Kalachakra transmission
  • The transition of the Kalki King
  • A moment to reflect on where we are—and where we are going

This tour responds to that moment. At its deepest level, this initiative seeks to restore something that is often missing in the modern world: a sense of possibility. We aim to inspire people to recognize that peace is possible, and that a more harmonious and awakened world is not merely symbolic—but something that can be cultivated and brought into being. Even where full understanding is not yet present, we hope to awaken a sense of reverence for this possibility—a recognition that human life can be guided by wisdom, compassion, and shared responsibility. Only when this possibility is embraced as real, can we begin to bring this into our reality. This is not only an exhibition. It is an invitation to reflect, to connect, and to imagine a different future.

The Impact We Hope to Create
This tour is not only a cultural event—it is a catalyst for transformation. Through this tour, we introduce the Kalachakra tradition into major global cultural institutions, expanding awareness of the Jonang lineage and its unique contributions. At the same time, we create new ways for people to encounter sacred art in the modern world—making it both accessible and deeply meaningful.

Educational Impact – We engage universities, scholars, and global audiences in meaningful dialogue, offering accessible entry points into profound philosophical systems. In doing so, we help bridge contemplative traditions with contemporary knowledge and inquiry.

Experiential Impact – This initiative allows individuals to encounter sacred forms directly, creating moments of reflection, inspiration, and inner connection. Through these experiences, participants gain a tangible sense of peace, beauty, and possibility.

Spiritual Impact – The tour plants seeds of connection to the Kalachakra path, while supporting practitioners in deepening their understanding. It also helps create the conditions for future realization to arise.

Global Impact – By bringing together diverse cultures, disciplines, and communities, this project fosters meaningful collaboration. It inspires values of responsibility, compassion, and interdependence, contributing to the conditions for a more harmonious and awakened world. If even a small part of this vision touches people deeply, its effects can ripple far beyond what is immediately visible.
