1000 Namgyalma Dharani Mantra Recitation for Khentrul Rinpoche’s Birthday
This event will be available Online only.
A Collective Offering of 1,000 Recitations in Honor of Shar Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö Rinpoche
On the precious occasion of Khentrul Rinpoche’s birthday, we warmly invite all disciples, practitioners, and friends to come together in a powerful collective recitation of the Long Dharani Mantra of Namgyalma (Ushnisha Vijaya) — a practice renowned across the Buddhist world for its vast blessings of longevity, purification, and protection.
Namgyalma is the Buddha of Longevity, associated with the Ushnisha Vijaya Dharani — one of the most revered dharanis in Mahayana Buddhism. Known as the “King of Dharanis” in all six realms, her mantra is said to purify negative karma, protect from untimely death, heal disease, and illuminate the mind with clarity and merit.
Open to All
Whether or not you have received the Namgyalma empowerment, everyone is welcome to participate. Because this is a sutra-based practice, empowerment is not required — but if you have received it, this is a rare chance to deepen and renew your connection. For all participants, it is highly meritorious to approach the recitation as a sacred ritual. If you wish you can also approach this from the sutra perspective although we normally practice from the Tantric view. So if you wish you can
-Bath beforehand and wear clean clothes.
-Keep your ethical discipline pure (such as observing the Eight Precepts for the day, if possible).
-Set a clear, compassionate motivation to benefit all beings.
By creating a sacred container of outer and inner purity, your recitation becomes a living offering that carries immense transformative power.
Benefits for Rinpoche
Reciting the Namgyalma Dharani on the Guru’s birthday is one of the most meaningful offerings we can make. According to traditional sources, when we recite this powerful dharani on behalf of another, the blessings directly support their health, longevity, spiritual activity, and removal of obstacles.
For our precious Guru, Shar Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö Rinpoche, these collective recitations are a way to:
-Strengthen his life force and vitality, ensuring his long presence to continue guiding beings.
-Clear obstacles and negativities, creating harmonious conditions for his vast enlightened activity to flourish.
-Offer oceans of merit, dedicated to the fulfillment of his vision for a Golden Age of Peace and Dharma in this world.
Our shared aspiration is that through this collective practice, Rinpoche’s life may be long, stable, and continuously beneficial to countless beings.
