Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated volunteer with significant sewing experience to create four custom-made Daka costumes to be used in Kalachakra empowerments and rituals.   All four Daka costumes must be completed by the end of 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Construct four complete Daka costumes based on provided designs, measurements and specifications ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail and adhering to functional requirements.
  • Accurately interpret and implement instructions regarding fabric, embellishments, and construction techniques.
  • Receive and carefully manage all provided fabrics, trims, and other necessary supplies.
  • Communicate promptly regarding any discrepancies or shortages in materials; maintain consistent communication regarding progress and any potential delays.
  • Commit to completing all four costumes by the end of the current calendar year.
  • All materials, fabrics, trims, and supplies will be provided and mailed to the volunteer; detailed design specifications and measurements will be provided.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in pattern interpretation, garment construction, and finishing techniques.
  • Experience working with a variety of fabrics, including potentially delicate or specialized materials; ability to execute intricate details and embellishments.
  • Good organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; diligence; able to work through obstacles and challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with the team, staff members and/or volunteers to fully support the project.
  • Flexibility and patience to adapt to changing requirements.
  • Technical: Ability to use email and Slack.
