Vajra Vega Wheel of Protection: Wrathful Kalachakra Empowerment & Protection Retreat with Khentrul Rinpoche
Friday to Sunday
Learn the Most Powerful Spiritual Protection Practice Done before the Kalachakra Empowerment
By special request from our Asian students, Khentrul Rinpoche will bestow the rare VajraVega Jenang and Wheel of Protection in the Asia time zone.
This extraordinary, seldom-given practice creates a powerful vajra-protective sphere of Vajra Vega and 60 protectors, traditionally performed at the start of Kalachakra empowerments to secure the space—and included in select extensive Kalachakra sadhanas.
Vajra Vega, the wrathful form of Shri Kalachakra and the King of the Wrathful Deities, is the protector aspect in Kalachakra. There are many benefits to establishing a connection with Vajra Vega. The essence of Vajravega is that he represents the non-conceptual primordial wisdom that arises when the winds enter the central channel. This is the method by which the root ignorance of conceptuality is cut. It is also the basis or container where the precious six vajra yogas arise. When we establish a wheel of protection with Vajra Vega, we are symbolically stopping the arising of dualistic appearances and abiding within the non-conceptual wisdom. Vajra Vega is considered the King of Spiritual Protection, and his 60 retinues are incredibly powerful.
Who is Vajra Vega?
Mudra and ritual instruction classes will be led by Senior Students of Rinpoche.
For those joining in person, if you wish to help set up and be part of creating the Tormas for this empowerment contact [email protected] We are looking for volunteers in Australia to make merit and help create the 60 tormas for this empowerment and help set it up.

This rare Marichi Tara empowerment is being offered in Hungary as part of the launch of the Shambhala Global Art Tour, a worldwide initiative to awaken understanding of Shambhala—not merely as a mythical realm, but as a living vision of enlightened society and leadership.
At the heart of Shambhala is the principle of the Universal Monarch—leadership rooted in wisdom, compassion, and fearless clarity. In this transmission, we especially highlight the future of enlightened feminine leadership, reminding us that a balanced world requires both awakened masculine and feminine qualities in every leader and practitioner.
Marichi — The 21st Tara
Marichi, the radiant 21st Tara, blazes ahead of the sun. She is the Dharma Protector of Kalapa, the capital of the pure land of Shambhala, and represents the completion stage of Tara practice as taught by Jetsun Taranatha.
Glowing the color of sunset—luminous orange and gold—Marichi heralds the dawning sun of great bliss. Like sunlight itself, her blessings pervade everywhere, dispelling obstacles both seen and unseen.
As a Dharma protector, Marichi:
-Guards practitioners during travel and times of danger
-Creates a cloak of invisibility, blinding harmful forces and obstacles
-Protects sincere devotees and swiftly guides them toward awakening
Across Asia she is revered in many traditions. In Chinese astrology she is known as the Mother of the Big Dipper, goddess of astrology and all nine planets. In Japan, samurai warriors invoked her for her power of invisibility and protection in battle.
Khentrul Rinpoche’s Personal Dharma Protector
This empowerment is offered from that living lineage of faith and direct experience.Marichi has been intimately connected to Khentrul Rinpoche since childhood. While herding yaks as a young boy in Tibet, he relied on her mantra to protect the animals from wolves at night.
“From the moment I relied on Marichi, I never lost a single yak. I developed unshakable faith in her from childhood, and this connection has remained indestructible throughout my life.”

At a time when the world is urgently seeking wise, ethical, and compassionate leadership, the teachings of Shambhala offer a timeless and transformative vision: leadership rooted in wisdom, benevolence, and service to the whole. What better way to cultivate these qualities than to come into direct contact with the Shambhala Dharma Kings, whose enlightened leadership transformed their entire realm through the practice and realization of the Kalachakra teachings?
This vision closely mirrors the ancient ideal of the Universal Monarch—a ruler who governs not through force, but through wisdom and moral authority. This same archetype appears in the mythology and historical imagination of Hungary, making this temple a particularly meaningful setting where Eastern and Western contemplative traditions meet around a shared understanding of enlightened rulership.
As part of this special gathering, we are honored to present—for the first time—select paintings of the Shambhala Dharma Kings, unveiled in preparation for the extraordinary convergence in 2027:
-The changing of the monarch in the realm of Shambhala
-One thousand years of Kalachakra in Tibetan Buddhism
-The dawning of the Second Golden Age of peace and harmony
This event invites us not only to contemplate these ideals, but to embody them—to awaken the qualities of a wheel-turning Dharma King within our own nature and become agents of positive transformation in the world.
Empowerment from A Direct Lineage of Realization
Khentrul Rinpoche will bestow his rare mind terma empowerment of the Eight Shambhala Dharma Kings, offering a profound opportunity to establish a direct and living connection with the Rigdens of Shambhala. Rinpoche has devoted himself intensively to preparing this empowerment as we approach a pivotal moment in the Kalachakra lineage and the unfolding vision of Shambhala in our world.
This empowerment includes:
-The full empowerment of the Eight Shambhala Dharma Kings
-Introductory teachings on Shambhala and enlightened leadership
-Oral transmission of the mantras and root text
-A live Q&A session with Rinpoche
About the Kings of Shambhala
The Kalki Kings are the Dharma Kings of the Sublime Realm of Shambhala. Through the Kalachakra teachings, they skillfully unified their kingdom—transcending divisions of race, class, culture, and conflicting belief systems. Their leadership went far beyond worldly governance. By embodying compassion and wisdom, they transformed Shambhala into a pure bodhisattva realm—harmonious, joyful, and flourishing in spiritual practice.
Unlike worldly rulers focused on power or territory, the Kalkis are Kings of the Dharma—bodhisattva beings who manifest as extraordinary human leaders for the direct benefit of the world.
“The Kalki Kings are inseparable from the Eight Great Bodhisattvas and the Ten Wrathful Dākas. What makes them especially significant is their direct connection with our world. They appeared as human beings so that many could benefit from connecting with them. I feel a strong connection with the Kalkis and have no doubt they are the greatest hope for the manifestation of the Second Golden Age of peace and harmony.”
— Khentrul Rinpoche

Vajrasattva Empowerment with Khentrul Rinpoche
If you are enrolled in the 2026 – 2027 Ngondro program then this event is included in your enrollment. Please do not register separately.
Karma affects every aspect of our lives—our health, relationships, emotional patterns, and spiritual progress. While we can work consciously with our body, speech, and mind to create better karma going forward, past karmic imprints cannot be undone through intention alone. For this reason, the Vajrayana tradition relies on powerful tantric purification practices—methods specifically designed to cleanse deep karmic obscurations accumulated over countless lifetimes.
What Is This Event?
This one-day event offers a rare opportunity to receive the Vajrasattva Heruka Empowerment (Jenang) from Khentrul Rinpoche, followed by guided purification practice led by senior practitioners. Although this practice is traditionally performed within the Jonang–Kalachakra Ngöndro, you do not need to be practicing Ngöndro to benefit. Karma affects all of us, and purification is essential at every stage of the path.
– Vajrasattva Empowerment from Rinpoche
– Guided Visualization to Purify Your Chakras according to Kalachakra (Led by Yeshe Wangmo online only and recorded)
– Teachings on Purification and Karma from Khentrul rinpoche
Why Vajrasattva Practice Matters
In Vajrayana Buddhism, Vajrasattva represents the innate purity of mind—the Buddha Nature that remains unstained, even when obscured by negative karma, emotional afflictions, and habitual patterns.Rather than suppressing guilt or regret, Vajrasattva practice works directly with cause and effect, restoring clarity, confidence, and spiritual momentum.
As Khentrul Rinpoche explains:
“Vajrasattva practice allows you to uncover the reality of your Buddha-nature, which is currently hidden as a result of defilements created by attachment, aggression and delusion. Our current situation is like a dirty piece of glass. This practice provides you with a powerful method to wash away the dirt while being confident that underneath there is crystal clear glass which is completely pure and unstained. Through the practice of Vajrasattva, this confidence will steadily grow as you come closer and closer to discovering the innate purity of your most profound nature.”
– Khentrul Rinpoche
Benefits of the Practice
-Purifies negative karma and obscurations accumulated through body, speech, and mind
-Repairs and stabilizes broken commitments and ethical imbalances
-Strengthens confidence in one’s Buddha Nature
-Supports emotional clarity and spiritual resilience
-Creates a strong foundation for all Vajrayana practices, including Kalachakra
-Benefits practitioners at any stage, from beginners to advanced students
Who Is This For?
There are no formal prerequisites. Prior Buddhist study or practice is beneficial but not required. This is especially useful if you are practicing the Ngondro (preliminary) practices in any lineage.
