Commit to transforming your view and life for the benefit of others in a supportive community atmosphere and prepare for the completion stage 6 vajra yogas.
JUNE 2026 – JULY 2027 (13 months)
Why are we offering this new Jonang Kalachakra Ngondro Program?
The Jonang Kalachakra Ngondro is the beginning of the path — not the end. It is where you truly step onto the journey of transformation. Anyone can do it. This year-long program is designed to help you actually complete your ngondro with clarity, confidence, and support. You won’t be doing it alone. You will practice within a committed community, receive the necessary empowerments and vows, and be guided step-by-step through the essential foundations of the Kalachakra path.
Ngondro is not about being advanced. It is about being sincere. Regardless of where you are on the path, completing the Jonang Kalachakra Ngondro Program will deepen your dharma study and practice, strengthen your karmic relationship with the guru, and root you firmly in a supportive spiritual community.
If you aspire to completely unveil your innate perfect nature, this program lays the foundation for the very subtle and profound yogic practices of the Kalachakra Completion Stage — the Six Vajra Yogas. But even if you do not intend to engage in Completion Stage practices in this lifetime, you will still benefit deeply. The ngondro itself transforms your mind, purifies obscurations, and establishes the causes for realization.
Shar Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö Rinpoche will personally give the key empowerments and transmissions required, ensuring you receive the complete blessings necessary to move forward authentically in the Jonang Kalachakra lineage.
By the end of the year, you will not just have studied the ngondro — you will have lived it. And you will be fully prepared to receive the Kalachakra Empowerment and enter the path of tantra, vajrayana with confidence and readiness. This is where the path truly begins.
Includes:
- Kalachakra Empowerment on Kalachakra New Year 2027, the 1000 year anniversary of Kalachakra tanra in Tibetan Buddhism and the changing of the Kalki King in Shambhala
- Refuge and Bodhisattva Vows, Vajrasattva Empowerment, Blessing of the 6 Buddha Families
- Oral Transmissions of 2 Ngondro Texts
- Receive direct instruction from Khentrul Rinpoche, the world’s only Jonang Kalachakra master to train lay students in the full path in English outside of Tibet. Rinpoche has bestowed more than 40 Kalachakra empowerments globally and has dedicated his life to this path. He is dedicated to helping transform our world using these Authentic teachings but in a revolutionary and modern way.
- Help transform the world into a Golden Age of Peace and Harmony
Who should apply?
-
Anyone with sincere interest in the Kalachakra path can undertake this ngondro — you do not need to be a current student of Shar Khentrul Rinpoche or an experienced Vajrayana practitioner to apply.
-
Those who are ready to commit to a year of steady daily practice and want the structure, guidance, and flexibility to integrate ngondro into real life circumstances.
-
Practitioners who wish to receive the Seven Empowerments of a Growing Child (Kalachakra Initiation), prepare for the Four Higher Empowerments, and eventually enter the Six Vajra Yogas.
-
Students who have already received these empowerments and want to deepen their generation stage practice while continuing to accumulate merit and wisdom.
-
Anyone who aspires to strengthen their connection to the Kalachakra path, the Jonang lineage, and Rinpoche’s vision of a Golden Age of peace and harmony.
Course Modules
The program unfolds through eight structured modules that guide you through the complete Kalachakra preliminary path — from Refuge and Bodhicitta through Guru Yoga and preparation for Generation Stage practice. By the end of the program, you will be fully prepared to receive Rinpoche’s next Kalachakra Empowerment, to be held in Europe in 2027 on the most sacred day of Ngakpa Dawa.

Module 1: Overview of the Kalachakra Path
Walking the Kalachakra Path
June 2026 | 1-Month Module
This foundational month establishes the vision, structure, and inner clarity for your ngondro journey.
Shar Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö Rinpoche will give the Oral Transmission of The Divine Ladder, grounding your practice in authentic lineage blessing.
Focus of the Month:
-
Establishing a whole-life spiritual practice and stable daily sadhana
-
Integrating formal practice into a busy modern schedule
-
Understanding both the how and the why of ngondro
-
The unique features of the Jonang Kalachakra path
-
The distinct qualities of the Jonang Kalachakra ngondro
You will gain a clear understanding of both the traditional structure of Jonang ngondro and Khentrul Rinpoche’s flexible, skillful approach for modern practitioners.

Module 2: View and the Importance of an Authentic Lineage
Following in the Footsteps of Masters before Us
July 2026 | 1-Month Module
In a time when “new” spiritual paths are everywhere, it is essential to understand the power of an authentic, unbroken lineage. Without lineage, blessings do not flow. Without correct view, the path cannot fully unfold.
This month grounds you in the Vajra Yoga lineage of the Jonang tradition, its Zhentong view, and its sacred connection to the Shambhala Dharma Kings.
A central emphasis of this module is understanding that the view is the foundation of the entire path. Pure perception rooted in Zhentong is not merely philosophical — it shapes your meditation, your devotion, and your realization.

Module 3: Refuge and Levels of Faith
Clarifying and Transforming Your Life Priority and Orientation
August – September 2026 | 2-Month Module
Renunciation and refuge are a continuum. When you are clear about what you are turning away from and what you are turning toward, your refuge becomes stable and transformative. This is the time to reorganize your life around Dharma as your central priority.
We begin with receiving and understanding refuge vows and establishing refuge as the ground of your path. You will begin accumulating prostrations, working with refuge prayers, visualization of the refuge field, and guided meditation.
We will also explore the inner preliminaries — the four thoughts that turn the mind, karma, merit, and the 8 worldly concerns — examining renunciation through the three vehicles and the three turnings of the Wheel of Dharma.

Module 4: Generating for the Mind of Enlightenment
Becoming a Golden Age Bodhisattva Warrior
October – November 2026 | 2-Month Module
This module marks a decisive shift from personal transformation to courageous engagement with the world. During this time, Shar Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö Rinpoche will bestow the Bodhisattva Vows, formally grounding your commitment to awakening for the benefit of all beings.
You will learn how to take, protect, and renew the Bodhisattva Vows, and how to persevere in daily life as a genuine bodhisattva warrior. We will cultivate the four immeasurables and engage Shambhala inspiration prayers to strengthen vast motivation and fearless compassion.
The courage to help awaken beings to their own sacred truth arises from the depth and clarity of bodhicitta. We will explore how this mind of enlightenment develops through the six perfections, the bhūmis, and the progressive levels of the bodhisattva path — especially as understood from the Jonang

Module 5: Many ways to Purify Karma
Power of Vajrasattva
December 2026 – January 2027 | 2-Month Module
During this module, Shar Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö Rinpoche will bestow the Heruka Vajrasattva Empowerment, opening the door to profound tantric purification.
We will explore purification in relationship to karma, merit, and view — understanding what purification truly means, how it works, and the results it produces on the path. Rather than seeing purification as only Vajrasattva recitation, Rinpoche will guide you in understanding the many ways a ngondro practitioner purifies obscurations.
You will engage deeply in the Vajrasattva practice through meditation, prayer, visualization, and supported group mantra recitation. During this time, you will also begin the accumulation of 100,000 Vajrasattva mantras as part of your ngondro commitment.
By the end of this module, purification will no longer feel abstract — it will be a lived, transformative process within your own mindstream.

Module 6: Various Forms of Accumulating Merit
Offering the Entire Universe
February – March 2027 | 2-Month Module
During this module, Shar Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö Rinpoche will give the Oral Transmission of Enlightening the Heart, empowering your mandala practice with authentic lineage blessing.
The accumulation of merit is an essential part of the path. We will explore the traditional long, middle, and short mandala offerings, learning to clearly visualize the refuge field and the mandala universe.
A central emphasis of this module is understanding not only how to practice, but why we practice. Merit accumulation is not about becoming attached to ritual form; it is about creating the causes and conditions for realization.
During this time, you will begin the accumulation of 100,000 mandala offerings as part of your ngondro commitment, transforming the offering of the entire universe into a vast and living expression of generosity and awakening.

Module 7: Practicing and Inspiring Guru Yoga
The Heart of Vajrayana: Guru Yoga
April – May 2027 | 2-Month Module
This module enters the heart of the Vajrayana path: guru yoga.
Shar Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö Rinpoche will bestow the Blessing of the Six Buddha Families and Tantra, deepening your connection to the living lineage.
We will take a deep dive into guru devotion, the Jonang lineage, and the threefold nature of the guru. You will learn how to practice guru yoga step by step — its meaning, its relevance for the Kalachakra path, and how to integrate it into daily life.
We will also explore the guru yoga practices within The Foundation Path of Vajra Yoga Prayer Book, including Dolpopa’s Rain of Blessings for the Six Yogas of the Vajra Lineage and Tāranātha’s The Anchor for Collecting Siddhis.
Through this module, devotion becomes not blind faith, but a direct gateway to blessing, realization, and unbroken connection to the lineage.

Module 8: Your Divine Self - The Deity and Empowerment
Generating Yourself as the Deity
June 2027 | 1-Month Module
Before this month begins, Shar Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö Rinpoche will bestow the Kalachakra Empowerment during the sacred time of Ngakpa Dawa, formally opening the gateway to deity yoga. During this module, you will begin the accumulation of the Kalachakra mantra as part of your ongoing commitment.
We will explore the profound relationship between the Lama’s blessing, pure perception, and tantric realization. You will gain clarity on what it truly means to receive a tantric empowerment, how to prepare for further empowerments and completion stage practices, and the proper motivation and attitude required on the Vajrayana path.
Topics include the different types of empowerments — including self-empowerment — and the heart of tantra itself: realizing the inseparable relationship between the Deity, the Guru, and your own limitless Buddha Nature.

Vajra Master Khentrul Rinpoche
Khentrul Rinpoché Jamphel Lodrö is the founder and spiritual director of Dzokden. Rinpoche is the author of Unveiling Your Sacred Truth, The Great Middle Way: Clarifying the Jonang View of Other-Emptiness, A Happier Life, and The Hidden Treasure of the Profound Path. Rinpoche spent the first 20 years of his life herding yak and chanting mantras on the plateaus of Tibet. Inspired by the bodhisattvas, he left his family to study in a variety of monasteries under the guidance of over twenty-five masters in all the Tibetan Buddhist traditions. Due to his non-sectarian approach, he earned himself the title of Rimé (unbiased) Master and was identified as the reincarnation of the famous Kalachakra Master Ngawang Chözin Gyatso. While at the core of his teachings is the recognition that there is great value in the diversity of all spiritual traditions found in this world; he focuses on the Jonang-Shambhala tradition. Kalachakra (wheel of time) teachings contain profound methods to harmonize our external environment with the inner world of body and mind, ultimately bringing about the golden age of peace and harmony (dzokden).

While she has received teachings from masters of the Sakya, Kagyu, and Gelug traditions, her principal path is the Jonang Kalachakra lineage under Rinpoche’s guidance. She has received the Higher Kalachakra Empowerment and has been formally authorized by Rinpoche to serve as an instructor of the Jonang Kalachakra Ngöndro.
