This year Khentrul Rinpoche did not offer the Kalachakra Empowerment Wang online. Due to the request of many students who wish to prepare to be eligible for the Vajra Yoga Kalachakra completion stage practice, Rinpoche has kindly agreed to bestow the Innate Kalachakra Jenang.
In this weekend retreat, Rinpoche will introduce the Innate Kalachakra Deity to students who are completely new to the practice and offer more extensive information on the Kalachakra mandala for those continuing to deepen their practice. While the Jonang lineage emphasizes the completion stage practice and does not focus on the extensive generation stage practices, they do have them.
This teaching cycle will gradually introduce you to the Kalachakra mandala and the more extensive Sadhanas for the Sahaja Kalachakra.
By receiving the Innate Kalachakra Jenang Empowerment, you will have Khentrul Rinpoche’s blessing and permission to engage in the preliminary practices of the Highest Yoga Tantra, Kalachakra, including self-visualization as the Deity. This concise empowerment helps us connect with the essence of the Kalachakra deity.
Innate Kalachakra (Sahaja Kalachakra) is the main deity practice emphasized by the Jonang Lineage and the gateway to the completion stage. This lineage emphasizes the completion stage practice of the profound 6 Vajra yogas. As such, they choose to keep this deity practice simple and accessible in order to guide people towards their non-conceptual state as swiftly as possible.
This indestructible Vajra yoga Path can lead practitioners to achieve enlightenment in a single lifetime or to attain a rebirth in the Bodhisattva pure realm of Shambhala. Just connecting with this empowerment plants the seed for your future enlightenment whether you choose to activate them in this life or the next.

Dolpopa is one of the greatest masters of Vajrayana Buddhism. Often referred to by all lineages as the Buddha from Dolpo or the second Buddha, he was the expounder of the Dzokden Dharma, the completion Dharma, that is our namesake. In celebration of this great master, Khentrul Rinpoche will teach various forms of tantra along with prayers of auspiciousness related to the great Dolpopa Sherab Gyaltsen. Join us online or in person at the Rime Institute.

It is said that teaching the Buddhadharma that the sons are more skilled than the fathers and that even the Buddha got better with practice. The early teachings say very little about the realized experience, and the Buddha remained silent on many points. The subsequent Perfection of Wisdom teachings says a little more but shy from saying too much about nonconceptual wisdom for fear of polluting it. Later in life, the Buddha was ready to talk about such things, and students were ready to hear them. After a thousand years, tantric masters learned the trick of making such insights about the fruition of the heart of the path. Here, you can read how Dolpopa presents these final teachings in all their glory, without invalidating any of those that came before.
One of the most important texts in all of Jonang Dharma is Dolpopa Sherab Gylatsen Mountain Dharma, commonly known as the Mountain Doctrine. Rime Lodrö (Ives Waldo) translated the book from Tibetan to English to ensure that the Zhentong view was properly translated.

In Vajrayana Buddhism, the Guru is the Buddha, the Guru is the Dharma, and the Guru is the Sangha. The whole path is contained in the practice of devotion to the Guru, who, while ultimately our enlightened nature, is also a human being who reflects that nature to us. The most powerful Guru is your root guru, the one who points out the nature of reality to you and you transform your mind. The light that shows the way on our Kalachakra path is Khentrul Rinpoche. And the one who had the most profound impact on his mind, is his root Guru, Lama Lobsang Trinle. Lama Lobsang Trinley (Lama Lutrin) is one of the most respected Jonang Kalachakra masters of our time. He was well known for his incredible healing powers as he had healed himself from Leprosy and then those around him with his spontaneous medicine wisdom. While showing no signs of sickness, he stated he would pass away and then did so in a meditative state on the precious day of Saka Dawa, the day that we celebrate the birth, enlightenment, and death of Shakyamuni Buddha.
Join us in the profound practice of the Jonang Guru Puja in honor of the pari-nirvana of Lama Lobsang Trinley. All practices done at this time are incredibly powerful as the merit is multiplied by 100 million times. Learn about the Greatness of Lama Lutrin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIMOS7vXFHg

In celebration of the Birth, Death, and Enlightenment of Shakyamuni Buddha, we recite praises recounting the accomplishments of his incredible life. Connecting and learning from his example, we, too, can take steps to learn and practice in stages to reveal our own enlightened nature. The first step to changing the world to a more peaceful, harmonious place is to change ourselves. It is with each of the karmas we make, each cause and condition, that we plant the seeds to change ourselves and then, through our transformation, the world around us. Shakyamuni spent years of diligent practice and effort to understand the nature of reality and reveal his own nature before he was able to teach others. Once he transformed himself, his enlightened speech and activity had the power to transform our world and continue to through this day.
In addition to the praises to the Buddha of our time, we will chant the powerful 1000 Buddha Puja to connect with all the 1000 Buddhas of this fortunate eon. Connecting with 1000 Buddhas and sharing their names creates powerful conditions for all who hear this to be reborn in a higher realm and to come into contact with the Dharma. All practices done at this time are incredibly powerful as the merit is multiplied by 100 million times.

On this incredible auspicious full moon day hundreds of years ago, Shakyamuni Buddha in the form of the Yidam Deity appeared in Amravati to turn the wheel of Dharma. On this incredible day marking the month of Nakpa Dawa, at the request of King Suchandra from Shambhala, the Kalachakra Tantra was taught along with all other forms of tantra from the 4 faces of Kalachakra while the Buddha in the form of a monk simultaneously taught the Heart Sutra on Vulture Peak Mountain. While we do not have the full form of the Tantra that was taught that day, the abridged form of the Tantra that we have now is still the most extensive Tantra in the world. It has incredibly detailed and clear instructions explaining how to work with the external world, and the internal world to reveal the enlightened nature. Last year, also on this auspicious day, HE Jigme Dorje Rinpoche, who was the Abbott of Dzamthgna Monastery and the head of the Jonang lineage, passed into Pari-nirvana. In remembrance of HE and in honor of this precious day, join us in the practice of Guru and the Innate Kalachakra Deity Yogas with Khentrul Rinpoche. We will be using the text Enlightening the Heart as well as reciting 2 prayers to HE Jigme Dorje Rinpoche. Prayers to HE Jigme Dorje are Available in the Unrestricted Prayers and Texts 015 – The Kalki’s Roar of Courage from the Depths of Grief 016 – Prayer of Blessing to Clear the Darkness https://learn.dzokden.org/pages/texts
