Description

We are seeking skilled and dedicated volunteers to contribute to the maintenance, development, and optimization of our WordPress websites to ensure our online presence is functional, engaging, and effective.

Responsibilities

Perform regular website maintenance tasks, including updating WordPress core, themes, and plugins.
Ensure website security by implementing best practices and addressing vulnerabilities.
Monitor website performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise; manage website backups and ensure data integrity.
Develop and implement new website features and functionality based on project requirements.
Customize WordPress themes and plugins to meet specific design and functional needs.
Provide technical support to content creators and website administrators.; ensure website content is displayed accurately and effectively.
Ensure websites are responsive and optimized for various devices (desktop, mobile, tablet); optimize website performance for speed, SEO, and user experience; implement caching strategies and other performance enhancements as required.

Skills & Qualifications

Website Administration

Strong proficiency in WordPress development, including custom theme and plugin development; solid understanding of PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL; knowledge of WordPress security best practices.
Experience with responsive web design and development.
Familiarity with website optimization techniques (speed, SEO, accessibility).
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.
Experience with e-commerce platforms (e.g., WooCommerce), membership plugins, and online learning platforms is a plus.
Good organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; diligence; able to work through obstacles and challenges.
Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with the review team, staff members and/or volunteers to fully support the project.
Flexibility and patience to adapt to changing requirements.
Openness to learn new technical skills and procedures; willingness to follow given standards, guidelines.
Able to transfer knowledge to future volunteers.
