Tantra is a rich practice that is particularly suited to our modern time where people are heavily engaged in desires and distraction. The traditional texts were written in ancient times — modern practitioners attempting to follow them often get stuck in a contradictory application of renunciation that only becomes another form of attachment. It is important to have renunciation, but not one that is rooted in fear, because fear is inseparable from suffering. But fear and renunciation are of the same nature; so how can you have one while abandoning the other?
In the Highest Yoga Tantric path of Vajrayana, the “diamond vehicle,” practitioners engage directly with desires, emotions and all aspects of waking and sleeping as a potent force and technology for personal transformation and rapid awakening. In this 1.5 hour discussion, Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö Rinpoche will explore the essence of using the desire path as a practical and natural way of liberation.

Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö Rinpoche

Shar Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö Rinpoche is a Rimé and Jonang Kalachakra Master of Tibetan Buddhism. Inspired by the Kalki Kings of Shambhala, through his organization, Dzokden, Khentrul Rinpoche works towards the second Golden Age of peace on our earth by transmitting the Kalachakra teachings in every area of the globe, translated in over 13 languages. He has authored over 20 books related to Shambhala, Kalachakra and Vajrayana Buddhism. His most recent book, published by Shambhala Publications, is titled The Realm of Shambhala. His forthcoming book, The Path of Desire, is currently available in Tibetan and will be published in more languages next year.

Shar Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö Rinpoché spent the first 20 years of his life herding yak and chanting mantras on the plateaus of Tibet. Inspired by the bodhisattvas, he left his family to receive an extensive education in a variety of monasteries under the guidance of over twenty-five masters in all the Tibetan buddhist traditions. Due to his non-sectarian approach, he earned himself the title of Rimé (unbiased) Master and was identified as the reincarnation of the famous Kalachakra Master Ngawang Chözin Gyatso. While at the core of his teachings is the recognition that there is great value in the diversity of all spiritual traditions found in this world; he focuses on the Jonang-Shambhala tradition. Thought to be extinct by many Western scholars, he found it held the most advanced teachings of Kalachakra containing profound methods to harmonize our external environment with the inner world of body and mind.
