Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled French-speaking volunteer to provide real-time translation for Khentrul Rinpoche’s special teachings and empowerments conducted in person and online via Zoom. This vital role ensures that our French-speaking participants have full access to the profound wisdom and blessings shared by Rinpoche during these significant events. The translator will be responsible for accurately conveying Rinpoche’s words in French and managing the designated Zoom language channel for French-speaking attendees.

Responsibilities

Provide simultaneous, accurate, and nuanced French translation of Khentrul Rinpoche’s teachings and empowerments as they occur live either in person or on Zoom.
Effectively manage the assigned French language channel within Zoom, ensuring proper audio routing and participant access.
Be available to address any technical or language-related questions from French-speaking participants within the designated channel, ensuring a smooth and inclusive experience.
Familiarize yourself with relevant Buddhist terminology and Khentrul Rinpoche’s books and recorded teachings to ensure accuracy and contextual understanding.
Possess a strong understanding of Zoom’s simultaneous interpretation features and general online meeting etiquette.
Maintain the confidentiality of teachings and discussions during and after the events.

Skills & Qualifications

Language
Translation

Native or near-native fluency in both English and French, with exceptional comprehension and verbal articulation skills in both languages.
Proven experience in simultaneous or consecutive interpretation, ideally in a spiritual, philosophical, or educational context.
Familiarity with common Buddhist terminology and concepts is highly preferred.
Comfortable and proficient with Zoom's various features, particularly its interpretation function.
Ability to commit to scheduled events and be present and ready to translate well in advance of the start time.
Ability to maintain focus and deliver accurate translations under live pressure.
Access to a reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet environment for translation.
Good organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; diligence; able to work through obstacles and challenges.
Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, compassionate, and service-oriented demeanor.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with the review team, staff members and/or volunteers to fully support the project.
Flexibility and patience to adapt to changing requirements.
