Zoom Operator for Global Events

We are seeking several dedicated volunteers to serve as Zoom Operators to manage the yearly calendar of online global events. In this vital role, the volunteer will be responsible for configuring, setting up, and running our online events throughout the year.
Responsibilities
Event Setup and Configuration: Configure and set up Zoom events (meetings and webinars) according to the event calendar. This includes creating new events, editing existing ones, and ensuring all settings are correct for a smooth experience.
Live Event Management: Serve as the host or co-host during live events. This involves managing the technical aspects, such as muting and unmuting participants, managing the chat and Q&A functions, and handling other technical issues as they arise.
Language Channel Support: Help set up and manage multilingual channels for live translation during our events. We will provide training for this specific feature.
Technical Support: Be on standby to troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise during a live event.
Zoom Expertise: You must be experienced with Zoom administration and have a strong understanding of its features, such as:
- Hosts and co-hosts – permissions, how to assign, remove
- Managing Participants – in session, in a Waiting Room, muting/unmuting, removing from session
- Features of meetings versus webinars
- Managing the Q&A and chat sessions
- Going live with a session remotely and on-site (for an in-person meeting)
- Switching between cameras and managing audio (turning on/off Original Audio)
Time Zone Availability: The volunteer needs to be the same or a nearby time zone as the event. The volunteer is expected to be available to host the event live without it creating an undue hardship.
Reliability: You are responsible for the technical success of the event, so being dependable and punctual is essential.
Skills & Qualifications
Event Management
- Good organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; diligence; able to work through obstacles and challenges; meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with the review team, staff members and/or volunteers to fully support the project.
- Flexibility and patience to adapt to changing requirements.
- Openness to learn new technical skills and procedures; willingness to follow given standards, guidelines.
- Technical: Ability to use Google Workspace, Drive, Docs (text editing/formatting functions) and Slack.
