Mountain Dharma: The Ocean of Definitive Meaning by Dolpopa Sherab Gyaltsen
https://store.dzokden.org/collections/books/products/the-mountain-doctrine

It is said that teaching the Buddhadharma that the sons are more skilled than the fathers and that even the Buddha got better with practice. The early teachings say very little about the realized experience, and the Buddha remained silent on many points. The subsequent Perfection of Wisdom teachings says a little more but shy from saying too much about nonconceptual wisdom for fear of polluting it. Later in life, the Buddha was ready to talk about such things, and students were ready to hear them. After a thousand years, tantric masters learned the trick of making such insights about the fruition of the heart of the path. Here, you can read how Dolpopa presents these final teachings in all their glory, without invalidating any of those that came before.

One of the most important texts in all of Jonang Dharma is Dolpopa Sherab Gylatsen Mountain Dharma, commonly known as the Mountain Doctrine. Rime Lodrö (Ives Waldo) translated the book from Tibetan to English to ensure that the Zhentong view was properly translated.

Saka Dawa Guru Puja for Lama Lutrin

Saka Dawa Guru Puja for Lama Lutrin

This event is FREE and available both Online and In-person.

In Vajrayana Buddhism, the Guru is the Buddha, the Guru is the Dharma, and the Guru is the Sangha. The whole path is contained in the practice of devotion to the Guru, who, while ultimately our enlightened nature, is also a human being who reflects that nature to us. The most powerful Guru is your root guru, the one who points out the nature of reality to you and you transform your mind.

The light that shows the way on our Kalachakra path is Khentrul Rinpoche. And the one who had the most profound impact on his mind, is his root Guru, Lama Lobsang Trinle. Lama Lobsang Trinley (Lama Lutrin) is one of the most respected Jonang Kalachakra masters of our time. He was well known for his incredible healing powers as he had healed himself from Leprosy and then those around him with his spontaneous medicine wisdom. While showing no signs of sickness, he stated he would pass away and then did so in a meditative state on the precious day of Saka Dawa, the day that we celebrate the birth, enlightenment, and death of Shakyamuni Buddha.

Join us in the profound practice of the Jonang Guru Puja in honor of the pari-nirvana of Lama Lobsang Trinley. All practices done at this time are incredibly powerful as the merit is multiplied by 100 million times.

Vesak Celebration: 1000 Buddhas Puja & Praises of Shakyamuni

Vesak Celebration: 1000 Buddhas Puja & Praises of Shakyamuni

This event is FREE and available both Online and In-person.

In celebration of the Birth, Death, and Enlightenment of Shakyamuni Buddha, we recite praises recounting the accomplishments of his incredible life. Connecting and learning from his example, we, too, can take steps to learn and practice in stages to reveal our own enlightened nature. The first step to changing the world to a more peaceful, harmonious place is to change ourselves. It is with each of the karmas we make, each cause and condition, that we plant the seeds to change ourselves and then, through our transformation, the world around us.  Shakyamuni spent years of diligent practice and effort to understand the nature of reality and reveal his own nature before he was able to teach others. Once he transformed himself, his enlightened speech and activity had the power to transform our world and continue to through this day.

In addition to the praises to the Buddha of our time, we will chant the powerful 1000 Buddha Puja to connect with all the 1000 Buddhas of this fortunate eon. Connecting with 1000 Buddhas and sharing their names creates powerful conditions for all who hear this to be reborn in a higher realm and to come into contact with the Dharma. All practices done at this time are incredibly powerful as the merit is multiplied by 100 million times.

2024 Kstigarbha Blessing Empowerment and Puja

2024 Kstigarbha Blessing Empowerment and Puja

This event is available both Online and In-person.

Khentrul Rinpoche has agreed to bestow the empowerment Kstigarbha and perform a Puja at the request of the Chinese language group.

Kṣitigarbha is one of the four principal bodhisattvas in East Asian Mahayana Buddhism, alongside Samantabhadra, Manjusri, and Avalokiteśvara. His name translates to “Earth Treasury”. Kṣitigarbha is renowned for his vow to instruct all beings in the six worlds between Gautama Buddha’s death and Maitreya’s rise. He also vowed not to achieve Buddhahood until all hells are emptied. As a result, he is often seen as the bodhisattva of hell-beings, as well as the guardian of children and the patron deity of deceased children and aborted fetuses in Japanese culture.

BENEFITS OF THE PRACTICE
Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva Pūrvapraṇidhāna Sūtra outlines the merits of practicing with Kṣitigarbha. The sutra suggests that those who follow its teachings will attain inconceivable merits and benefits. This practice can also aid in dissolving immeasurable negative karma.

Kṣitigarbha Puja during Qingming Festival
Kṣitigarbha is a highly revered manifestation of the Buddha among the Chinese due to his significant vows to protect those in the lower realms. This is particularly important to the Chinese, who are concerned about their ancestors who may have been reborn in the lower realms. During the Qingming Festival, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day (and sometimes referred to as Chinese Memorial Day or Ancestors’ Day), which is a traditional Chinese festival celebrated by ethnic Chinese across Asia, Kṣitigarbha Puja is a common practice and holds significant relevance for Chinese Buddhists.

WHO CAN ATTEND
There are no formal prerequisites.

SPONSOR THE PUJAS
Many people enjoy watching various Pujas online performed by Lamas believing they are receiving a huge benefit. It is also common in the West for people to ask a lama to pray for them without making any offering or having a personal connection. While, as one of all sentient beings, you are connected to the results of the Puja made for the benefit of all sentient beings, the karmic connection is incredibly weak, and therefore so is the result. Normally during certain times in one’s life when a Puja or prayers are required to clear various karmic debts, obstacles, or karmically-based illness, it is customary to make financial offerings to the Lama for prayers and Pujas. This creates a stronger Karmic connection to the Puja, which creates a stronger karmic result.

2024 Tantric Purification: Fire Pujas Workshop

2024 Tantric Purification: Fire Pujas Workshop

This event is available both In-person and Online.

This is an incredible opportunity to learn how to practice pujas to generate vast amounts of merit and purification. In Vajrayana there are many types of burnt offering pujas that utilize fire. They can be sorted into 3 main categories, Sur (smell offering), Sang Chö (smoke offering), and Jinsek (fire offering). All of these practices have incredibly profound meaning at their core which creates the conditions for the accumulation of both merit and wisdom simultaneously. While each practice invites the Buddha, Bodhisattvas, dharma protectors, local deities, and beings of the 6 realms amongst all others to the practice, they have different focuses for the karma they are working with.

Khentrul Rinpoche has kindly agreed to teach us about these three types of fire offerings. He has composed and arranged compositions of these pujas that a student can do in an extensive and also a simple form at home after this workshop. On Sunday he will perform the king of Fire Pujas, the peaceful Kalachakra Fire puja written by Bamda Gelek Gyatso and Lama Lutrin. This one is larger and more extensive then what we he will teach us how to perform for ourselves.

The 3 Offering Practices

Sur Dotgu Kuntsol – The Gift of All Needs

The Sur is a smell offering that uses fire to burn a collection of offerings to create a sent offering. The main focus is all the bardo beings, hungry ghosts, whoever has incredible suffering, and whomever we have a karmic debt to. This is commonly used as an offering to purify our own and our ancestor’s karmic debt for the benefit of all sentient beings.

Sang Chodtrun Gyatso – The Ocean of Offerings

While this one invites all the buddha, bodhisattvas and deities the main emphasis is on the local deities and dharma protectors. The sang chö (smoke) offering helps to clear karmic obstacles in our samsaric life in to have a precious human birth to practice dharma.

Jinsek Dropan Gyatso – The Ocean of Benefits

There are many types of Jinsek but they all focus on purification. There is extensive offering with many different substances made into the fire that is each linked to creating different beneficial results. This creates the condition to purify anybody’s negative karma and their body.

Practical Workshop Includes:

-Teaching on the different types of fire Pujas Sur, Sang Chö and Jinsek
-Demonstration of how to do each type of Puja at home in a simple form
-Instructions and prayers so you can practice them yourself
-There will be an opportunity for questions and sharing throughout the two days
-Audios of the chanting of the 3 Fire Pujas
-List of Ingrediants and Supplies You will need to do the Pujas
-Instructions on How to set up a fire for the different types of pujas
