About this Project

The Kalachakra offers profound methods for transforming one’s impure perceptions and unveiling our deepest reality. Our bold vision is to make the complete Kalachakra system accessible to all 8 billion people through translations, online platforms, and culturally relevant adaptations.  For the first time in history, the entire Kalachakra system will be accessible in a systematic and clear framework including teachings in the Five Bodhisattva Sciences. 

The Five Bodhisattva Sciences

Dzokden is committed to reviving and flourishing these sacred sciences specifically rooted in the Kalachakra Tantra and the vision of the Golden Age of Shambhala. They help the warrior-like Bodhisattvas of Shambhala bring benefit to a society that is grounded in wisdom, compassion, and enlightened activity.  These sciences are practical, dynamic expressions of the Bodhisattva path, equipping practitioners with the skillful means to build enlightened society from the inside out.

• 1. Healing Science (Medicine) – Kalachakra medicine, a rare and nearly lost tradition, offers profound insights into the body’s elements, energies, and karmic conditions. Dzokden is committed to reviving and preserving these practices specifically to support the vitality and clarity of yogic practitioners. Rooted in the Kalachakra Tantra, this healing system provides practical methods for restoring balance and preparing the body for deep meditative realization, helping individuals thrive physically and spiritually in service of awakening.
  2. Astrology – Kalachakra astrology aligns practitioners with cosmic rhythms and karmic conditions, empowering them to act in harmony with the universe and support the flourishing of the Golden Age.
  3. Art and Craft – The creation of sacred images and ritual implements infuses the world with symbols of awakening, helping practitioners visualize and embody enlightened reality. We support artists in producing mandalas, murals, thangkas, and other sacred forms that are vital to the integrity and power of Kalachakra practice. These authentic supports strengthen and inspire practitioners and uphold the sacred culture essential to Shambhala’s enlightened society.
  4. Grammar and Linguistics – Mastery of language ensures the precise and powerful transmission of Dharma, protecting the teachings from distortion across time and culture.
  5. Logic and Philosophy – Essential for cultivating wisdom, this science trains the mind in clear reasoning to help practitioners navigate complexity and uphold truth with compassion. At Dzokden, we emphasize logic rooted in the Zhentong view and the sutras and tantras of definitive meaning—the teachings of other emptiness—helping students understand the final, non-deceptive logic of Buddha Shakyamuni’s Dharma. This foundation is key to generating unwavering confidence in the path of awakening.

 

The Six Vajra Yogas of Kalachakra

Dzokden is committed to reviving and flourishing the authentic Completion Stage practices of Kalachakra from the Jonang tradition. This includes the profound Kalachakra Yoga Asana preparation system being shared globally for the first time. Preserved in secrecy for over 1,000 years by highly realized yogis in Tibet, these practices have remained extraordinarily powerful due to the lineage’s meticulous preservation and precision. These yogic methods provide a rare and direct path to realization through the transformation of the subtle body with devotion to the Guru which are essential to unlocking the full potential of the Kalachakra Tantra. Preserving the secrecy, integrity, and authenticity of these Completion Stage practices is crucial, as they are only held in full within the Jonang lineage on this earth.  Beginning with the Kālachakra Empowerments & Teachings bestowed in 2016-2023 by the Vajra Master Shar Khentrul Rinpoché, Dzokden Kalāpa currently holds the complete path of the Kālachakra Six Vajra Yogas.  Qualified lay practitioners and monastics who enter the Completion Stage receive the pith instructions and essential guidance for students when they fully engage in the direct path of the lineage.

 

Additional Kalachakra Education Projects

• A Multi-Level Philosophical Approach: Providing tailored paths for different types of practitioners. This includes the direct approach of Zhentong philosophy for those with deep devotion, as well as extensive Jonang commentaries for those who require a rigorous scholarly foundation to settle the “knowingness” of the modern mind.
• Specialized Scientific Research: Investigating and developing niche fields that are difficult to access in the West, specifically Kalachakra Medicine and Astrology. We are working to bring these traditions out of Tibet and China to help practitioners understand the inner and outer workings of the universe.
• Global Infrastructure: Building a robust digital platform to support learning in all of Dzokden’s supported languages, ensuring these teachings are no longer restricted by geography or linguistics.
• Moderated Community Forums: Providing structured spaces for discussion and exploration, guided by moderators to help students deepen their understanding of the complex relationship between the Kalachakra Tantra and their daily reality.

Our Aspirations and Why this is Important

Unlike other esoteric systems couched in hidden symbolic language, Kalachakra presents its scientific and spiritual wisdom with a clarity that allows current students to deepen their realizations and unveil their true reality.   By providing these rare teachings, we aim to significantly increase the number of dedicated practitioners capable of shifting the collective consciousness of our world and manifesting the vision of a new Golden Age.
