About This Program

Khentrul Rinpoche is dedicated to harnessing modern technology to bring timeless wisdom into the lives of people across the globe.   Just as the Dharma once spread through oral tradition, print, and broadcast media, it must now find an authentic expression through digital means and Artificial Intelligence.

Under the direct guidance of Khentrul Rinpoche, Dzokden has established an innovative AI Dharma Program. This initiative integrates emerging technology with authentic lineage wisdom, ensuring that the rare Jonang Kalachakra and higher yogas can reach practitioners across all cultures and languages. This program is the fusion of cutting-edge technology with the oversight of a living master; Rinpoche personally trains and communicates with the data models to ensure accuracy and minimize the risks of misinformation.

To bring this vision to life, Dzokden is developing a holistic mandala of digital tools and open-source resources including:

• Living Animated Archive: We predict the future of younger Dharma practitioners who are used to all information coming to them conversationally, to prefer to learn in this manner. While we have been carefully digitally archiving Rinpoche’s video, audio and writen teachings, we are will present them in a new way. Dzokden AI chatbot will be trained on the Dharma teachings of this view and lineage as well as Rinpoche’s archive. In the future we hope that people will be able to have a virtual version of a Dharma teacher not meant to replace the Vajra master but to be a helper to guide them through their practice in their langauge. This archive needs to have low hallucinations of information and be accurate. 
• Practice-Specific Chatbots: Developed to provide practitioners with real-time, personalized support for Kalachakra practice questions, helping them navigate the path at a level they can understand. While this does not replace receiving pith instructions and transmissions from the Lama it does help people learn the conceptual practices.
• AI Audiobooks: Utilizing Rinpoche’s own voice to generate audiobooks in a practitioner’s native language, maintaining a direct, personal connection to the teacher regardless of geography.
• Enhanced Translation Pipelines: Collaborative efforts with Monlam AI (technological initiative dedicated to preserving and revitalizing the Tibetan language through AI) to build custom APIs that expand Tibetan translation capacity, braking down the linguistic barriers to profound sacred texts.
• Open-Source Infrastructure: In a spirit of radical inclusion, Dzokden’s tools are designed to be open-sourced. This allows other Buddhist traditions to adapt our frameworks to their own lineages, multiplying the benefit across the global Sangha.

Our Aspirations and Why This is Important

By bringing the science of AI into the service of the Dharma, we are pioneering a spiritual tradition for the digital age.  With over 50% of people under 30 bypassing traditional search engines for AI-driven platforms, the way the Dharma is consumed is fundamentally changing.  This work meets the urgent challenge of reaching younger generations to ensure that future generations encounter the teachings with accuracy and depth, fostering a global culture of connection, inclusion, and peace.
